Engineered oak flooring sanded by Floorworks to bring back its natural beauty and durability
Before the Restoration
The oiled engineered oak flooring in this Pimlico property was looking tired, but in overall good condition - just about time for re-coating, without the need of full restoration. During our free, no-obligation survey, we conducted a thorough inspection of the floors and discussed the benefits of re-oiling wooden floors and full restoration with the client.
Ultimately, after receiving two quotes & pricing for the wooden flooring renovation service, they chose to re-oil the full 60 m² area with a new top-coat of Osmo Polyx hardwax-oil, matt.
How We Completed the Work
One of the primary challenges on this project was managing a significant amount of furniture, which required us to work through the space in planned stages.
Because engineered wood flooring features a real oak top layer that varies depending on the board's overall thickness, the floor sanding was a secondary option and delaying it as much as possible, was essential.
We began with a re-oiling service clearing the area and hovering the surface prior to a thorough buffing of the surface.
We then progressed to the fine rotary screen buff (120 – 150 grit) — a critical step to ensure the timber surface is perfectly prepared for taking a new coat of hardwax-oil.
To complete the transformation, we applied one new coat of Osmo Polyx in a matt sheen, which took about 6 hours to dry and therefore we returned on following day to complete the works in stages.
