• Is it possible to sand and oil my 3-strip engineered wood flooring?

  Hi and thank you for contacting us regarding sanding, staining, and re-oiling your 3-strip engineered wood flooring.

  The 3-strip engineered floorings come with a 3 mm top layer of solid wood, meaning they can only be sanded once. First, ensure your flooring has never been sanded before.

  If your floors can be sanded again, you can change the color of the natural oak using colored oils. We highly recommend Osmo Oils, which offer a wide variety of colors and are frequently used in our restoration services for oiled floors.

• Can I install underfloor heating under engineered flooring?

  Yes,

  Underfloor heating is ideally installed under engineered wood flooring with a click installation system. This allows for the floating installation of the engineered floorboards, without the need of gluing-down or nailing-down. Engineered floors have been specifically designed to withstand temperature and colour variations and are therefore perfect choice for homes with underfloor heating.

• Should I use varnish or oil for my original pine floorboards?

  Hi and thank you for the question regarding the choice of sealant for pine floorboards.

  Pine is a softwood, and while it is possible to seal pine with both lacquers and hardwax oils, we always recommend using a hardwearing varnish when sanding and sealing this type of flooring. The reason is that pine tends to absorb oils, resulting in lower protection and durability for floorboards sealed with hardwax oils compared to those sealed with varnish. This is especially important when staining is required. Therefore, we recommend sealing stained pine floorboards with hardwearing varnish for better protection and durability.

• Do you do floor repairs to herringbone parquet flooring?

  Yes, we can supply matching blocks for most solid and engineered herringbone flooring. Usually after herringbone floor repairs, the floors may need to be sanded, gap filled and re-sealed for achieving uniform appearance to the floor.

• Can I book floor sanding service while I am away on business or holiday?

  Permanent personal presence is not required during the time of the floor sanding works and we offer key collection and return service.

  However, we strongly advise that either yourself or a representative on your behalf is available when required for decisions related to colour, finish and furniture, which will require moving around by our team.

  Also, please note that while we take all reasonable care to ensure that your property is safe and secure, we are not responsible for guarding your property, particularly when there are other builders on site. Therefore, please make sure that you discuss any particular arrangements with us in advance if you are planning to be away during a floor sanding service.
